Abstract
South Korea has continued to push for supply-oriented policies, including expanding the enrollment quota of nursing colleges. Since then, the number of nursing staff has steadily increased, but the problem of imbalance in manpower supply remains a challenge to be solved. This study compared and reviewed career advancement programs of domestic and foreign nursing assistant personnel for various policy responses. The career advancement programs to the increase in the career of nursing assistants in Korea is based on a four-year nursing department major curriculum, with fewer access opportunities and the task of compensating for the inefficiency of high academic loss rates. Unlike Korea, major countries had various career advancement programs for obtaining bachelor¡¯s and graduate degrees to improve the quality of nursing services. As in the case of major advanced countries, it is necessary to review ways to make various career advancement programs flexible for nursing assistants and seek ways to utilize them in policy.
